Before we begin this post, let me just start by saying that it is filled with many many selfies!
My hair has been getting longer over the last few months (this is what it looked like in September) and it's starting to take longer to dry, clog up the shower, and generally taking more time and effort to maintain. So... I started this new thing where you don't wash your hair everyday, and let me tell you the benefits just keep on coming!
Freshly washed and blow dried. I used my straighteners to create my signature flick in my fringe, also added a little more texture to the roots of my hair. I didn't add any products in on the first day so that it will have that clean feeling that little longer.
I went in again with my straighteners to add a little more texture. Then went ahead and dry shampoo the roots! Perfect for adding volume and more importantly amazing for keeping the grease away!
I forgot to take a selfie until night time on Day 3 so the lighting is a little poor... I didn't do much apart from work that day so I just kept it simple. Curled my hair the night before, and tied half of it up in the morning, I then went in and added a few more curls before I left the house to add definition. I would normally use more dry shampoo but it wasn't necessary since half of it is tied up.
I loved my hair on Day 4! I added more dry shampoo and curls. Then went ahead and hair spray the whole thing to hold it all in place. The photo on the left is me in the morning before leaving the house, and the one on the right is me after my day at work/socializing. As you can see, the curls held their place very well, I'm impressed!
I had a lunch date on Day 5, and yes I probably should have washed my hair but the curls just looked so great, I couldn't bring myself to wash them out... Again I added lots more dry shampoo and a few more curls, and then hair sprayed the rest.

I love love love batiste dry shampoo! Been using it for years. I always go for the tropical scent as it smells of coconuts, reminds me of a beautiful sunny beach with a quaint cocktail bar. The smell isn't too overpowering but people can smell it, I know this as I always get compliments on how great it smells. It's affordable and does the trick, highly recommended for anyone with hair that goes greasy after one day.
I came across this Wella Hairspray in Tesco and thought why not, since it's cheap. It may not have the most fancy packaging but it does what I need it to do. I also like how it tends to fade out with a stroke of a brush, which makes my hair feel less dirty.
As I said earlier, my hair tends to clog up the drain (eww), so I bought this unblocker. You pour the whole bottle down the drain, leave it to work overnight and rinse through with hot water! Does the trick, but in between uses I have to manually handle the hair out of the drain, oh so gross! Which is why I try to wash my hair as little as possible, so I don't have to clean it too often.
Another great benefit of not washing my hair everyday is that my natural hair oils get to go to work. Now I can go 5 days or maybe even 6 without it getting too greasy, but when I first stopped washing my hair daily, it became greasy overnight. You have to push past that feeling and in a couple of weeks time your hair (and you) will get used to it. You also save a lot of shampoo and conditioner! The benefits just keep on coming!
As always, hope you've enjoyed the post, maybe even found it helpful.
Until next time,
