TKmaxx Candles

Hope everyone is enjoying this bank holiday weekend! I picked up a couple of candles whilst TKmaxx and since they have such pretty packaging, I just thought I'd share them on the blog because such prettiness mustn't be hidden away!

The first one I picked up is this simple, elegant one for £6.99. It gives off a subtle rose syrup scent, "pleasantly aromatic" just like the label says. What sold this to me was it's wooden wick! I've never seen one and didn't even think one existed but there you go, a wooden wick. Not only does it look super cool, it also sounds super cool. It makes a similar noise to wood burning in a campfire, perfect for setting a relaxing ambiance.

The next one is £7.99. Not going to lie, I already knew that I was going to buy this when I saw the candle jar. It came in 3 different colours, yellow, orange, and blue. Obviously I picked up the yellow one. The smell is a very nostalgic scent for me, it reminds me of mosquito repellent which brings back memories from when I used to live in Malaysia. I find this smell oddly soothing and could not stop smelling it even when it is not lit. Extremely happy with this purchase, and I will have an adorable jar with lid when it runs out!

Hope you enjoyed this post,

Soap & Glory Scrubatomic Amazing Daily Face Polish

Soap & Glory Scrubatomic Amazing Daily Face Polish £9

I have been needing a new exfoliator since my mac volcanic ash exfoliator finished. I remember a couple of years ago, I used one from soap and glory and it was really really quite amazing! I remember it had a minty fresh scent to the product, the product could be used as an exfoliator or if you left it for a while, it turns into this mask. I was never quite sure what the purpose of the mask was but I remember washing it off, and it was almost like I was doing two processes of exfoliating in one. The exfoliating beads were so small and fine then it did not scratch my face but yet still powerful enough to get rid of any dead skin. Yes, it was that good that I remembered how it felt so vividly!

So as you might have guessed, I went back to repurchase the scrub. I've been on the hunt for that scrub for a few months now but it's no where to be found... so when in boots, you must try out all the samples they have! I picked this one up and thought why not give it a go, then tried out the sample and it has the most wonderful smell, it had a similar texture to the one I previously had so I was willing to give it a good go.

The product is white so it is a drastic change from the black mac one I had.The fine texture is really quite amazing because it is not harsh on the skin, which means I can use it everyday. I don't believe that exfoliating everyday is a necessity but it is always good to have that option. I am currently trying my best to walk to work everyday, for the most part the journey is peaceful and rather soothing but since I work in the city, I do have to spend a few minutes on the highway, though it is only a few minutes, I can kinda feel the dirt penetrating and building up on my skin! Maybe I am just being paranoid but I do feel like exfoliating more regularly is definitely something I need to add in to my skincare regime, so this product, which claims to be suitable for daily use would be ideal for me. On top of all this, the smell is so satisfying! It reminds me of the smell of peaches and elderflowers, which may sound like a little unusual but I'm actually really loving it. It's quite a subtle smell but altogether very refreshing and gives an all round pleasant experience.

I've only used this product for a couple of weeks so far, and my skin has been feeling great. My skin always feel brighter and softer after every use. It kept it smoothness overnight which left me waking up with baby soft skin. I loved that feeling oh too much!

Hope you will have a wonderful bank holiday weekend, go out and make the most of it!

Until next time,
Grace

I know what you are thinking, yet another boots haul! I can assure you that most of these things are very dull and boring and I will keep the words to a minimum. If there are any new products, I will most likely be doing a separate blogpost so definitely keep an eye out.

Soap and Glory Scrub-Atomic face polish £9.00 £7.20

Wella Firm Hold Hairspray £3.14 | Buy 1 get second 1 half price

Sensodyne toothpaste £4.49 | 3 for 2

Liz Earle Signature Foundation £21

Boots Cotton Buds £1.40 Buy 1 get second 1 half price

An array of shower gels | £1 each

Boots antihistamine tablets £7.69

BarryM Nail Paint £2.99 | Rimmel Lipstick £4.99 | Maxfactor lip liner £4.99

Like I said, I will be doing a blogpost on any new beauty products so there will be more coming soon.

I love a good Boots haul, whether it's for essential products like shower gel, or for discovering new beauty products. I love the fact you can earn points with the Boots card as well, it's great because every few months I tend to accumulate around £10 which is basically like free money!

Hope you enjoyed this post,

Let's get naked!

New Look | Nude Patent Court Heels £19.99

Okay, so my title is a little bit misleading... We are not actually going to get naked, we are just gonna talk about a few nude items that I have added to my routine. I have recently started my new job as a receptionist and all of the items in this post were purchased largely because of my role. Having said that, I have been enjoying my purchases very much!

First up are these gorgeous nude patent shoes from New Look. It is part of my uniform requirement that I wear this type of shoe but to be honest, I think that every girl needs a good pair of nude heels to go with everything. I do keep these at work under my desk since I only wear them for work, but if ever I needed some nude shoes to go with any outfit, I could easily take them home with me. Heels are never really going to be comfortable because ultimately, it is unnatural position for our feet to be in, but I think that these are fairly easy to walk in considering that they are stiletto heeled. Once you get used to walking in these, you can pretty much walk in any heels, more or less. I am quite lucky that I have to sit down for most of the day but when I do need to walk around, I tend to keep these heels on so that I can practice walking in them on a daily basis. I'm not sure if it's just me but some nude shoes are just quite a funny colour, but I think these are perfect and complements my skin tone well. I have the same pair in black leather and they are even more comfortable as the material is softer.

New Look | Classic Skinny Strap Watch £9.99

This beautiful watch is another purchase from New Look. I have been loving this brand recently as I feel like they have really stepped up with their products, they are all very current and on trend but most appealing part for me is how affordable everything is! I can't see a drastic difference in quality when it comes to high street shops so paying £100 from somewhere like Topshop can seem a little ridiculous when you can get similar products from stores such as New Look. I wasn't looking for a new watch but then I saw this little beauty and thought well I only own one watch, so adding another to the collection can't cause anyone any harm. I have very slim arms so it's hard to find watches that don't look drastically oversized on me, even when they are regular sized, they look oversized. So anything with a thing strap and reasonably small face is my kind of watch. I tend to go for simple and brandless watches because 1. They will go with everything and 2. I can't afford to buy the brands that I adore! I just think this shade will go with everything as it is such a pretty pink nude, also nice to have non-black accessories, especially for the summer time (yes, I know summer is pretty much over but we can still hope!)

Basic Tights £3.99

Nude tights are a nightmare, it is just so difficult to find something that is good quality, and when I say good quality I mean something that wont pull upon every little bit of contact, or something that rips every time you go to the ladies room. These are from h&m and comes in a set of 4. Each pair of tights has lasted me 3 to 4 days, and even survived the washing machine test. Another element that makes shopping for nude tights such a chore is the colour matching. I can never find my exact skin tone, it's almost as tricky as shopping for foundation. This one is a pretty close match for me, I think it is slightly darker but I feel like it is always better to go a little darker rather than a little lighter as it tends to look a bit odd when you go for a lighter shade.

These are all my nudes that I recently purchased and though they were bought for "work purposes" (or so I tell myself), I feel as though these could be essential for any wardrobe as you just never know when you might need something nude, nude is just one of those things that go with everything!

Until next time,
Grace

Small Smashbox Haul

Happy Friday Everyone! I don't know about you but I am so glad that it is the weekend, I have been waiting for this day for well.. since the last weekend ended basically hahaha I joke I joke. As you know, I love a good haul and I have been doing too many of those recently (oops), but I think I can justify these purchases as essential products that I just need in my beauty life!

I love smashbox and shopping on their website is always a pleasure as they give you in depth description of what their products do. Not to mention the free sample with every order, plus the free delivery! It's just a whole load of free stuff really. So since we are getting all excited and talking about free stuff, I thought I'd point out that I did order my two products in separate orders because I am just that cheeky and cannot resist getting all the free stuff, and since it is free delivery, why not? Right? This time, they had an offer going that gives you 2 free samples with every order! That is pretty much double the amount of free stuff! The were 3 samples to choose from and I got the "Be Legendary Lip Gloss" in the colour 'Disco Rose', and the " Photo Finish Pore Minimizing Primer". I haven't had a chance to use the lipgloss but the colour looks great, and would fit perfectly in my handbag. I did try the primer, a little goes a long way with this product, this little sample gave me two generous uses and could have possibly squeeze out a third but I was too eager and used everything up as quickly as I could. The texture is slightly thicker than the original primer and comes with a skintone colour but applies clear to the skin. I think this is the perfect primer for those days when your skin is a bit more bumpier than usual. I would happily purchase this.

Photo Finish Foundation Primer £25.50 | Full Exposure Mascara £19.50
The two main products that I purchased will come as no surprise as I have been using them for a couple of years now. The primer is just the most amazing feathery texture, it smooths and leaves your skin with a matte base for your foundation.

I haven't purchased a full size mascara in a while because I have been given samples from companies and friends so I never really needed to buy one as I was always trying out a new one. I did try a couple from benefit which were great but I personally don't think that are great value for money. The smashbox one is slightly cheaper and it does what I want a mascara to do. It's lengthening, which is really important as I have the shortest lashes in the world. It hold a good natural looking curl, separates and adds volume to the lashes, but not too much volume that it starts to look clumpy.

Hope you found this post helpful. Until next time,
Grace

Big Empties Post #2

I recently wrote a blogpost with some of my empty products in and I promised that there was more to come, so here it is...

Smashbox brow tech trio have been my saviour to brows. This was the product that I started using to fill in my brows, I absolutely adored this product and was actually getting a bit anxious when it was running low. I was desperate to repurchase this but I just did not have the funds at the time and now I've been using a nice dark brown sleek eyeshadow to fill in the brows so I stopped feeling the need to buy this. I know there is still some product left in here, but it was the darker shade that I would tend to use and I've had this for a couple of years now, so it was just time to get rid.

This little bottle of goodness was used up quite a while ago. It was back when I had blonde hair and I needed that extra bit of moisture as my hair was very dry and straw like. This did help a little but to be honest, my hair was so bleached and damaged that nothing could save it. I've kept the bottle around all this time because the smell was just so glorious! It was beautiful, and every once in a while, I will come across this little bottle and I would give it a good old sniff. Sometimes I will sniff it for a good few minutes cause it was that good. But I am trying to de-clutter and unfortunately, I can't find another use for this bottle and somehow keeping it as the nice smelling bottle just doesn't seem all that justifiable.

mascara mascara mascara! I love using sample size mascaras because you get to really try out and get a feel for the mascara you may or may not purchase. Surprisingly, there is a lot of product in these little things, think all in all these three have lasted me over half a year. I did a review on the 'Roller Lash' mascara and yes I do like it, but I much I prefer the "They're Real" mascara as they are more natural looking and less clumpy. Both great mascaras but I have chose to repurchase the smashbox 'Full Exposure' mascara as I think they are the most lengthening, curls well, and gives an all round natural finish to the lashes. I'm not entirely sure but I think the smashbox mascara is slightly cheaper than the benefit ones, so it was just an easy choice for me to go for.

I have raved about this product so many times on this blog and I could go on another rave about this but I think that this product speaks for itself. And yes, I have already bought another one of these. I have recommended these to people time and time again. I just think they are so perfect for the cat eye look. Now that I think about it, I only started doing the winged cat eye look after my first purchase of this eye liner. I have not regretted this decision to this day.

NYX smokey eyeshadow pallet. This one is a bit of a random one and as you can see in the photos, it is not actually empty. However, I have had this product for around 3 years and have hardly reached for it so I decided to get rid. I think the reason why I never use it is because it is not very long lasting, and as you age and hang out/work for longer periods of time, you start to realise that make up that stays on your face is essential! So since this does not do the trick, I thought it was about time I got rid of it.

A couple of Barry M products, I do like these but again these are a good 4 maybe 5 years old so it is about time I just threw them away. They aren't bad products, I think they are very pigmented and has a good wear to them but it is just that there are not that many occasions where light blue eyeliner is appropriate. I used to adore this lip crayon but I just, somehow, don't feel like bright pink with little glitters will suit me or my age anymore hahaa... Let's face it, I'm not 12 anymore!

Another product that I have already bought. I know this is crazy but there are so many black eye liners to chose from and when you find one that you like, it's just sensible to keep buying that one. I use this to line my waterline and it glides on smoothly. It is jet black when applied on the waterline, which is something I find extremely rare with eye liners, as they tend to apply on with a grey-ish colour. It is waterproof, although I am a little doubtful of it's full waterproof potential as it does come off as the day goes on, but I think you can't have everything with eye liner, so if it means I have to re-apply every so often is the only downside, then I think that it is an outstanding product in it's own right. Also very affordable!

Mac Mineralize Volcanic Ash Exfoliator. Doesn't that name just makes you wanna try it! I loved this product and used every last bit of it! Even had to cut it open to get every drop out. This is a wonderful exfoliator, a little on the pricey side but I would say it is worth it. I like to switch between exfoliators as I do enjoy trying new products but this is something I will definitely buy in the future, after I've tried out a few more here and there.

This is one of the products that Joanna gave me in our Beauty Swap Box. I am not familiar with Clinique as a brand and to be honest, I wasn't too sure about this moisturiser at the beginning. It's a very liquidy and runny texture, and almost too runny for my liking but it does absorb quick and leaves you feeling very hydrated. I think that this will be great to take on holiday with you because of the size and just the fact that a little goes a very long way.

Last but most certainly not least is another one of my holy grail products, the Liz Earle Signature Foundation. I don't know how much money I have waisted on trying out new foundations but they have all disappointed me in the past. I was actually contemplating giving up, but then just as I was about to give up, I discovered Liz and I adore it. I love how this foundation can be lightweight and natural, but you could also build it up for  more intense coverage. It sits on your skin perfectly and is very long lasting and durable, all you need is some powder and a few top ups throughout the day to keep you nice and matte.

And that is finally it! I kinda felt like this empties post (and the one before) took SO long to write, maybe cause there are so many different products to write about or maybe cause they are so long to write. If you've made it here to the end then thank you so much, I love you and appreciate your patience!

Until next time,
Grace

It's My Birthday!

Started my day with Tapas, Aunty Jane, and Ice Cream!

Hello everyone, apologies for not blogging over the weekend but I was just too busy celebrating my Birthday! I didn't really want to have a big night out or anything crazy for my Birthday, all I wanted was to have a couple of days of quality family time. I think that it is so difficult to find peace in London, and getting away was just what I needed... I didn't really planned anything for my birthday so all the activities that we did were planned by my family and here's a few photos I took to capture our memories!

Sibling Selfie Little Sister, Me, and Little Brother.

The Whole Family dining at Steak & Lobster!
My Steak & Lobster experience was really quite pleasant. As you may have guessed from the name of the restaurant, they specialise in serving the most enjoyable Steaks and Lobsters! The best thing about dining with family is being able to share food... My little bro and I shared our steak and lobster so that we could try out everything! I would definitely recommend getting the lobster as it is great value for money and it tastes amazing! The steak was really good too but I don't think it was anything special and you could get a similar taste from most respectable restaurants. Another great perk for dining here, aside from the great atmosphere and service, is that you get unlimited fries and salad! Which means you will definitely leave the place with a full stomach, there's nothing worse than feeling hungry after a nice meal out... All in all very enjoyable!

China Town, Manchester.

Snow Ice at the Dessert Room!

Me on a Segway!

My whole family on Segways!
My dad is a very family day out kind of person and so he decided to book the Segway experience as a little birthday treat for me. Our experience was at "Madrenaline Activities Centre", and I loved it! It's been awhile since we all did something together as a family, so it was quite nostalgic and all round lovely experience. Our host who took this photo was very kind, had just the right kind of energy to get you into the Segway mood!

LUNCH! (before heading home to London)

Sylwia surprised me with the cutest little card and a little cupcake from Lola's when I got back.
I really enjoyed this birthday, I feel like it's a humble celebration but it's just what I needed. I felt very lucky to have people who care dearly for me and felt very loved from all the birthday wishes from everyone, also felt quite popular for a change haha! And to top everything off, my colleague from work surprised me with some cake, wine, and an adorable card with the sweetest message inside.

I sure am one lucky girl!

Hope you enjoyed this post and I will be back with more soon!

Big Empties Post #1

Last time I did an empties post was back in May and I have been collecting yet more empties since then, so there is a lot to go through... it's so bizarre to think how much we go through in a day yet I've never really noticed how many products I actually used until I started writing this blog. I normally just throw away what I've bought and never give it a second thought, but it is quite scary to think how much I use, and how many products I could never see myself without. Like, I have already repurchased a good few empties, and will probably carry on doing so in the foreseeable future.

Let's get on with it!

First up, Nivea body wash! They always have these on offer at boots for £1 and I always always stock up on these! Think I did go through a couple more bottles but I just forgot to pop them in my empties bag but I am sure I did have them down in a haul post somewhere. This particular one is actually one of my lesser favourite scents, there's just something about it that I dislike. It's not necessarily Nivea's fault because I do really love most of their other scents, but this one just reminds me a teenage boys shower gel in a way. Not a fan of smelling like a teenage boy to be honest. However still a fan of Nivea body washes and have already repurchase a couple, from boots, for £1.

Dry shampoo is just as good as it gets for me. I'm not a particularly dirty person so I don't really need to wash my hair everyday but I am blessed with great hair oils, which does tend to make my hair, particularly around the roots, quite greasy. Dry shampoo takes away the grease and helps my freshly washed hair stay fresh for days! This is my favourite and probably the only scent that I have been religiously buying for a couple of years now and I've already repurchased another can of this bad boy.

If you read my blog, you've probably heard of this product a few times before. It isn't something usual that people have in their beauty boxes and this have lasted me a good while. This serum gel thing (still not quite sure what it is) is used as a sort of moisturiser substitute. I don't think I could use this alone but when I feel like having a very light, yet still effective layer of moisturiser on my skin, this is what I tend to turn to. I used this a lot more during the more heated days, such as the very few, although very hot summer days we've been lucky enough to have in London. Anyone knows when summer is coming?

When you think of Oasis, the last thing that comes to mind is... well candles. If I didn't work there, I probably would never even think about purchasing a candle but this was displayed on the cashiers at work, and the smells was so fresh, pleasant, and just subtle enough to entice me into giving it a good old sniff whenever I was close by. Yes, I did look like a weirdo but it was worth it. The scent is 'Pear and Freesia', I don't what freesia smells like but this definitely smells like sweet sweet peaches. It was perfect for the summertime and made my room that little bit more sweeter, made me feel refreshed and relaxed, was just what I needed after a long days work!

I'm sure everyone knows that I am a Liz Earle fan! I use pretty much all the essential stuff like cleanser, toner, moisturiser, and foundation from her brand. Needless to say I will keep on repurchasing as long as they keep on making! I did go through a month or two without this stuff, and you wouldn't think it but it makes a huge difference to the wellbeing of my skin. Toner is used after your cleanser, it helps remove any excess make up and just generally calms my skin down. If you read the description on the website, I'm sure you will be tempted to buy it yourself too!

Mouthwash is just one of those products that you kinda need in life. This one was recommended by my dentist and doesn't particularly have the best taste but it does what it needs to do and I can't complain really.

Smashbox primer is something that I think every beauty enthusiast need to try out at least once in their life. There is nothing bad that I can say about this product at all, it evens out the skin and leaves it with a matte canvas for you to apply your foundation to. One thing that I also love about this is the packaging, it's sleek as it is but when you have reach the very end, you can also cut it in half and get every last bit of product out so I don't feel like I am wasting anything. This one has lasted me around 5 to 6 months so it's definitely worth the money.

The blendercleanser is something that I was so excited to try out. I do think it is a good product and I love the dispenser that is built in to the bottle however I don't think I will be repurchasing this as I feel like hand soap or bodywash would do just as well as this, and those are much cheaper than this cleanser. I am sure the cleanser is probably better for the wear of my beauty blender but I have been using hand soap/body wash for a couple of months now and I haven't seen the effects or damage to the wear of the sponge. I think I will probably have to replace it by the time there is any wear or tear anyway.

I am generally a fan Nivea products as a whole, think I got this on offer for £1 in one of the superdrug stores and it was just something I threw in my handbag so that I was prepared if ever I needed a bit of moisturising. It was a nice size to carry around as well.

This is one of my more favourable empties. I loved this sample product! I was extremely skeptical about cleansing oils before I try this, and it did take some getting use to but it removes make up so well, and leaves your skin feeling grease free, which is unusual considering this is an oil. All very confusing stuff, I know!

I have been using this powder for a while now. It is very good at keeping your skin matte and flawless, you do need to touch up as the day goes by but that's pretty much all make up so I'm not too bothered about it. You could use this powder by itself or as a setting powder. Already repurchased and planning to stock up on more as well. Just giving you all a heads up, this product will probably make an appearance in all my future empties post.

Think I will end this post here as I am getting a little tired of wm not even sure if half the stuff I wrote in this post made sense, if it did not then maybe just look at the photos and ignore the writing haha. I will try and write up the rest of this empties post and get it out as soon as possible!

Until then,
Grace
