I know I have not been blogging over the weekend but it is with good reason and I will tell you all about it in this post! So, like most of you, I got paid last week (end of the month) and I just went a little cray, nothing overly cray but just a little. Thought it would be nice to take a break from all the beauty posts and share a few cool places that I have been to with y'all. I do feel like I can't eat for the rest of the week or so because I spent all my money but at least I had fun!
(Obviously I am joking but this is how I felt when I checked my bank account this dull Monday morning.)
So let's start at the very beginning, Thursday. I met up with a friend and explored a few spots in possibly the quirkiest side of London and one of my favourite places on earth, Shoreditch.
Cafe 1001 - It's actually quite funny because I am that kind of person that will go somewhere and then completely forget so it's not until I get to the place that I realise actually yes, I have been here before... Cafe 1001 is a chilled out cafe/bar, they usually have some sort of live music playing and when the time is right, you could even put your dancing shoes on. A lovely place to go for one drink, but you will probably end up staying for a few more. The Lost Londoner wrote a whole post dedicated to Cafe 1001 so do go and check it out! Also borrowed the photo from her blog because I just did not get round to taking any photos on Thursday.
The Crown and Shuttle - Then we hit up the well known local pub with a sizeable beer garden. The atmosphere was enjoyable however you need to bear in mind that it can get a little overcrowded as it is quite a popular choice, especially during the weekend.
Corner Savoy - Stopped off at Corner Savoy for a delicious kebab. I wasn't that hungry so I just had a couple of bites and it was delicious. I remember going there once before and it was just as fabulous, it isn't too greasy but it's greasy enough.
On Friday, I met up with another friend in the lively Soho.
Más Q Menos - We went for some dinner and had a nice chat and catch up, got a little bit merry with a pint of beer and got to test our tastebuds with all the different dishes. Más Q Menos has a very cosy and inviting atmosphere. I felt relaxed which may sound silly but is extremely rare for me because I generally get quite stressed out in any restaurant setting. The staff were all very accommodating, friendly and knowledgeable, which in my opinion is so important as the service can make or break your day/mood. The food was full of flavour but the problem for me was that I always forget that the Tapas style of eating is not what I enjoy because I never feel full or hungry afterwards, just a bit confused. I'd definitely recommend this place if you are a Tapas lover!
G.A.Y - I think I spent way too much time in gay bars as a heterosexual being, I mean it's all fun and games until you realise no one in interested in you cause you know, you're the wrong sexuality! Having said that, I do always end up having a great time so I can't complain. We were intending on going on a big night out and maybe head to Heaven or G.A.Y. Late after having a few drinks but we just weren't feeling it that night, and headed home before the last tubes.
Twenty Twenty Studios - (Let's take a moment to appreciate how on point my hair was!) On Saturday, I had an interview/audition to take part in something so I had to dress to impress. I didn't want to go over the top as it was during the day so I opted for a simple black dress and this statement layered necklace which I got in the sale on payday for £7 from New Look!
and then I was planning on having a chilled night in to sort out my room cause we are currently in the process of reorganising everything but since my roommate and I were both free, we decided to head to Shoreditch to have that famous 'one drink'.
Prague Bar - As always, Shoreditch was packed out in every single pub there was, plus the football was playing so there were man hormones and bad smells bouncing around all over the place so we decided to head into Prague Bar. I've been to this bar/cafe/lounge a few times and I've always enjoyed the relaxed environment, there's always people in there but it's never too packed so stress levels are kept under control. As you can probably guess, that 'one drink' was not one drink, it was 5 cocktails and 3 shots(...?). I am a sucker for a good cocktail, Prague Bar had so many to choose from that I just had to try different ones. Myself and Sylwia has made it our personal mission to try out ALL the cocktails on their list by the end of the year. Needless to say I was drunk out of my face, but the great thing is that I did make friends with everyone, including the bartender and bouncer, and was hugging everyone by the end of the night. I have no regrets.
P.S. Thank you to Sylwia and the Bartender (Antonio) for babysitting drunk Grace... I'm sure it was a tragic scene.
West London - Angelina and I had planned to go to the Olympia Beauty Show a couple of weeks ago and like I said, I was only planning on going for one drink so I was not anticipating the weird feeling that may or may not have been a hangover/maybe I was still a little drunk. I hardly visit West London, in fact I don't think I've ever been to this part (short walk from Barons Court station to Olympia) before. I was pretty much a tourist taking photographs and stopping every 2 seconds but it was a pretty place and I wanted to snap so why not. Some of the buildings and homes in the area reminded me of Barcelona and much like Barcelona there was a much more chilled out vibe, which made it feel like I was in another land, aka not London.
Olympia Beauty Show - The beauty trade show is held once a year and is an event with all the beauty products and brands that you can dream of. I managed to bag myself a few nail related bargains, mainly UV gel polishes and accessories which of course I will be blogging about soon but here are some photographs of the event itself. It was such a lively place, a bit like a clean market which I'm sure is wonderful but not so much when all you want is bed. None the less, I really enjoyed myself and would recommend this to all beauty junkies.
Possibly the most beautiful wall I have ever seen in my life!
Kerry, if you are reading, I took this a photo because the the 'K' and 'B' reminded me of you!
They had a lot of teeth whitening stalls so this was pretty much a regular sight throughout the event. Kinda bizarre to sit there for an hour or so in front of everyone each to their own I suppose.
More strange sights.
A quick snap of the goodies that I bought!
(Currently feeling like I have no more £££ left)
So yea, a fun and eventful few days! I would love to lie and say that all my weekends are this exciting but for the last couple of months, I have been hibernating and my bed has been (and still is) my best friend. My next few weekends will probably by chilled ones but I might try and force myself to have an exciting weekend every payday weekend as we all deserve a treat now and again!
If you made it this far in the post then I applaud and am very grateful for your time! I'm off to food theme blogger's event hosted by The Bloggers Hangout tonight so can't wait to see what that is like! and I will be back soon with another post!
